The Step Pyramid is one of the oldest known man made structures in the world. It serves as the final resting place for the long time king of Ancient Egypt, King Djoser. It’s also one of the first Pyramids ever built, if not the first. Pyramids represented the final resting place for the nobility of Ancient Egyptian civilizations. The Step Pyramid was constructed in the 27th century BC, still stands today in the ancient city of Saqqara near Memphis in Egypt. Everyone is familiar the the Great Pyramids of Giza in Cairo, Egypt they were all based off of this initial design. The Step Pyramid has a height of roughly 204 feet.

The only known artifact known to be in the supposed image of Imhotep.

The man behind the Pyramid design was a truly Brilliant man, his name was Imhotep. If you’re familiar with Egyptian history you’ve heard of him. Modern day engineers often struggle with the process used to build these Pyramids in such primitive times. Imhotep is responsible for the creation many things we take for granted today. He was also the Inventor of Modern Medicine, (though this claim may be disputed, it’s true look it up) before a person is fully enshrined as a Doctor he has to take what is known as the Hippocratic Oath in honor of Greek Physician Hippocrates. However, it is widely known that Imhotep was practicing medicine well over 2,000 years before Hippocrates. Imhotep was indeed the First Doctor ever!.

Among many of his other stellar accomplishments are his skills in Architecture, Engineering (being the first to build with stone) Medicine he is also known for performing some of the worlds first surgeries. It is believed that he wrote down over 40 remedies for illnesses and diseases and their treatments. The Edwin Smith Papyrus is believed to be the actual writings from Imhotep himself. Imhotep was the idealist for the Ancient Egyptian culture. When it came to the proper burial of their societal elite AKA Pharaohs Imhotep felt that they needed to be place somewhere becoming of a Pharaoh. The Step Pyramid literally laid the foundation for the creation and Construction, all due to one of the Greatest minds in all of recorded history!.

Editors Note: With so many Inventions attributed to the legacy of Imhotep it was kind of difficult to focus on just one. This man certainly deserves his own blog on his many contributions to humankind. #Thankyou
